Try Sailing
Never sailed before? Come and find out what it's like on the Shannon Estuary with one of our taster sessions.
What to expect
Your first time on the water
Our Try Sailing sessions are designed for complete beginners — no experience, no kit, no problem. You'll be out on the estuary with an ISA-qualified instructor in a small, stable sailing dinghy.
Sessions typically run on summer weekends and during school holidays. Group sizes are kept small to ensure everyone gets plenty of time at the tiller.
Many of our current members and racers started with a Try Sailing session at FYC. It's the best possible introduction to the sport.
