About the racing

NHC racing for all

FYC uses the National Handicap for Cruisers (NHC) system, which allows boats of all types and sizes to race competitively against each other. Whether you sail a classic wooden sloop or a modern production cruiser, you're racing on a level playing field.

Club racing takes place on Saturday afternoons throughout the season, with longer offshore and estuary races on bank holidays and special dates. All racing is run from Foynes with courses set on the estuary.

New boats and skippers are always welcome — contact the Race Officer for information on NHC ratings and how to enter.
